The 10-Minute Desk Reset
Do not reorganize the entire office. Set a ten-minute timer and make tomorrow morning easier. The goal is a usable desk, not a styled photograph.

Minutes one to three: remove obvious noise
Take away cups, packaging and rubbish. Put dishes by the sink rather than starting side quests. Collect loose paper into one pile.
Minutes four to six: decide the paper
Recycle what has no next action. File reference material and move any hidden task into the system you use. Keep only tomorrow's document on the surface.
Minutes seven to eight: return tools
Put pens, notebooks and accessories in their permanent homes. If something has nowhere to go, use one temporary decision tray rather than inventing a complicated category.
Minutes nine to ten: prepare the first move
Reconnect devices, straighten cable ends and open the notebook needed first tomorrow. Stop when the timer ends. A repeatable reset beats an occasional perfect one.
